POSITIVE AND HOPEFUL DATA OF THE BIO SECTOR IN OUR COUNTRY.

From Yerbal we want to highlight some figures that are given in this report that show that the ecological is no longer a fashion in Spain to become a way of life and this is something that makes us extremely happy to all who struggle for a consumption of quality food from Organic Farming.

Most relevant data:

• For the first time in our history, Spain has entered the TOP 10 WORLDWIDE sales of organic products reaching a figure of 1,686 Million Euros.
• Sales of organic products in Spain increased by 12.55% from 2015 to 2016, thanks in large part to the growth and development of the specialized channel and the implementation of BIO areas in large areas, which has allowed greater accessibility of purchase of these products.
• In 2016, of the 100% of food products purchased in Spain, 1.69% were organic, while in 2012 this percentage was 0.99%. We are very far from the country with the largest share of the Ecological Market, such as Denmark (9.7%), but we are going in the right direction.
• In 2012, the per capita expenditure on organic products was 21.34 euros while in 2016 it was 36.33 euros, another positive data on the evolution of the sector. Still far away from spending in Switzerland ranked as the world’s top with 274 euros per capita.
